Jonathan G. Smith, MD, FACP is a native of Massachusetts and the Boston area. He grew up in Sharon, MA. He received his Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Neuroscience and Master of Medical Science (MMS) degree in Artificial Organs, Biomaterials, and Cellular Technology from Brown University in Providence, RI and was elected to the Sigma Xi Honor Society. After receiving his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Brown Medical School (Providence, RI), he completed his medical internship and internal medicine residency at Harvard Medical School, Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, MA.

During his career, Dr. Smith has served on the medical staff of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital - Needham, Bridgewater Goddard Park Medical Associates, and the Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He is affiliated with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital - Needham, and Newton-Wellesley Hospital currently. Dr. Smith has also served as an instructor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Smith is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) and a member of the American Medical Association and the Massachusetts Medical Society. His professional interests include nutrition and weight management counseling, gastroenterology, and preventive medicine. Dr. Smith was named one of Massachusetts' Top Doctors for each of the last 3 years by MA Top Docs. 

Dr. Smith lives in Wayland with his wife, two daughters, and two dogs. He enjoys indoor and outdoor cycling, traveling, music, theater, and singing a cappella, as well as politics and working out at the gym.
